Alabama will receive at least $100 million from TikTok, potentially up to $300 million, under a settlement resolving claims the platform exposed children to harmful content and built addictive features. The deal lands just before a trial scheduled for Monday.

TikTok also agreed to add safety measures aimed at teens, including heavier content moderation, nighttime usage limits, blocks on cosmetic filters, and expanded parental controls.

Nothing focuses a company's commitment to child safety like a trial date circled in red on the calendar. The features they're rolling out now could have shown up years ago without a lawsuit forcing the issue. Funny how the deadline does more parenting than the app ever did.
