A year after Israeli strikes killed 22 people, including journalists Hussam al-Masri and Mariam Dagga, at Nasser Hospital in Gaza, no one has been held accountable and the military has not released investigation findings or a timeline. Israel initially said the target was a suspected Hamas camera and claimed six of the dead were linked to Hamas, without providing evidence.

An Israeli soldier speaking anonymously now says the military found no evidence tying the camera, which belonged to al-Masri, to Hamas, and that none of the six was the intended target. AP reported one of the six wasn't on the hospital's casualty list and two others were medical or emergency personnel.

AP and Reuters issued a joint statement demanding a full explanation and access to Gaza for journalists. The Israeli military told AP the incident is being examined, with findings to be passed to military legal authorities, but offered no timeline for when — or whether — that review will conclude.
