State Representative Angie Nixon won Florida's Democratic Senate primary over better-funded, nationally known rival Alex Vindman, taking 56% of over 1.25 million votes despite raising less than $1 million to his $16.2 million.

She now faces Senator Ashley Moody, the DeSantis-appointed incumbent who won her primary with nearly 80% of 1.65 million votes and enters the general with $8.48 million on hand.

Moody cast the race in stark terms, tying Nixon to defunding police and the military and noncitizen voting; Nixon countered with Medicare for All and an end to 'senseless wars.'

Florida has 1.5 million more registered Republicans than Democrats, and observers note that national donors may be reluctant to fund what looks like a longshot bid.

The full dispatch is available from the source below.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
Nothing says confidence in your own arguments like describing your opponent's actual platform as a checklist of horrors before the campaign has even started. Moody's fundraising lead and the voter registration gap suggest this race was decided by arithmetic well before anyone cast a ballot. The DNC chair's promise to 'help elect Angie' is worth revisiting the moment actual money shows up.
