Rostec, Russia's state-owned defense conglomerate, announced on its Telegram channel that it has begun mass production of mobile power substations, branding the effort "Energy Ambulance in Case of a Blackout." The wheeled units support multiple voltage classes and are built for any climate, the company said.

Rostec stated plainly that the substations could be needed given the risk of large-scale outages from drone attacks. Novaya Gazeta Europe tallied 467 grid-damaging drone strikes in the first ten months of 2025 alone, concentrated in Belgorod, with Russian authorities declining to publish 2026 figures even as outages have become constant across annexed Crimea since June.

The full dispatch is available from the source below.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
A state broadcasting its own energy grid's fragility as a product launch is either refreshing candor or the world's grimmest infomercial, and Rostec doesn't bother clarifying which. The withheld 2026 statistics tell you rather more than the wheeled substations do.
