Russian troops make gains near Rodynske in Donetsk Oblast – DeepState

The DeepState monitoring group reported Russian forces advanced near Rodynske in Donetsk Oblast's Pokrovsk district on Aug. 30, a day after reporting a Russian advance near Zaliznychne in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. ISW separately assessed Ukrainian forces recently advanced near Dorozhne and held or gained ground west and south of Novyi Donbas.

Ukrainian officials say Russia's political leadership ordered troops to reach the administrative borders of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts by Dec. 31, 2026, a target Russia's own military leadership reportedly considers unrealistic, requesting an extension to March 31 that a senior Ukrainian official also doubts will hold.
