Off-grid solar is spreading through Brazil's Amazon, with more than 100,000 systems operating by 2026, replacing diesel generators in remote communities. In Nova Sociedade, where residents walked up to 20 kilometers for water during the 2024 drought, solar-powered pumps now supply clean water to 36 families.

Beyond households, the installations power schools, clinics and local businesses, with advocates framing the shift as both a climate resilience measure and a tool for Indigenous and traditional communities' self-sufficiency.
