Rick Wilson, on 'The Lincoln Project' podcast, argued Democrats should abandon impeachment as unrealistic given Senate math and instead launch investigations into lower-level Trump administration staffers first, working up the chain over time.
Wilson said the approach would be harder for the White House to shield than a single high-profile impeachment push, predicting staffers could not afford legal defense and would 'unravel' under pressure, and acknowledged the tactic amounts to lawfare.
He described the current mood inside the administration as fearful and said Democrats should 'steamroll' claims of executive privilege once in control of Congress after the midterms.

Calling your own strategy 'delicious' torture is an odd way to sell restraint, but at least it's honest about the goal. Politics has always had a taste for slow squeezes dressed up as accountability, and this one just skips the pretense. Whether it works depends entirely on math nobody in that podcast studio controls: an election that hasn't happened yet.
