Russian forces struck a scheduled intercity passenger bus with an FPV kamikaze drone in the Nikopol district of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast on the morning of Sept. 16, according to the regional military administration. Five passengers were killed at the scene and seven others were wounded and hospitalized with varying severity.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the strike deliberately targeted a conventional bus route and offered condolences to the families. Earlier that morning, separate drone strikes hit Nikopol and neighboring Marhanets, damaging a residential building without casualties.
The attack follows a pattern of recent strikes on the region, including a Sept. 14 shelling in Pavlohrad that killed one civilian and a Sept. 10 strike there that killed five, including two energy technicians.
