A toothpaste containing 10% nano hydroxyapatite has become a viral hit after being covered in earlier shopping coverage, prompting a follow-up asking a dentist to evaluate the formula.
Dr. Michael J. Wei told the outlet the ingredient 'stands out for enamel care' and noted the product is fluoride- and SLS-free, which may appeal to people wanting a simpler formula; he added that fluoride and nano hydroxyapatite work by different mechanisms but can both support healthy enamel.
The piece also flags that fluoride remains the ingredient most dentists recommend, and cautions readers against recent fluoride fearmongering even while allowing that hydroxyapatite can be a reasonable alternative.

A product goes viral, a commission-earning shopping desk calls up a dentist, and the dentist says, more or less, it's fine, nothing wrong with it.
