The White House announced that President Trump signed an executive order authorizing highway use of tax-free dyed diesel and deferring the federal diesel excise tax through year's end, calling it immediate relief worth up to $100 per fill-up.
The release stacks praise from Vice President Vance, Chief of Staff Wiles, Agriculture Secretary Rollins, farm groups, and at least seven governors, several of whom note they'd already issued their own state orders on dyed diesel before Washington caught up.
Rollins credited the administration with structurally changing the energy sector while also needing to address short-term pressures on farmers, a sequence the release does not pause to reconcile.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
When a man puts out the fire he lit and then hands around a sheet of compliments about his hose work, you're allowed to ask who struck the match. Half the governors quoted here say they'd already done it at home before Washington showed up. Saving you money on the thing that got expensive on your watch isn't a miracle, it's housekeeping.
