Russia's government has suspended scheduled and certain unscheduled regulatory inspections until October 2027 at commercial sites damaged by Ukrainian drone attacks since January 2026, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko announced.

Grigorenko framed the moratorium as relief from administrative burden, saying companies should spend their resources on repairs instead of inspections. The exemption follows a string of strikes on Wildberries warehouses across several Russian regions since midsummer, and on rival marketplace Ozon's facilities since August, along with recurring attacks on oil refineries.

The damage from these strikes has run into billions of rubles, though the moratorium addresses regulatory scrutiny of the sites rather than the attacks themselves.

A country that keeps getting its warehouses set on fire has decided the fix is fewer inspectors, not fewer fires. That is a bit like a barn owner skipping the safety check because the barn's already half burned down. Somewhere a fire marshal is out of a job for two years, and nobody in Moscow seems bothered by that at all.
