Jimmy Kimmel used his Thursday monologue to contrast Trump's rally claim of always keeping his word with two specific promises that didn't hold up. One was a prior pledge that gas would fall under $2 a gallon; AAA data cited on the show puts the current average above $4.

The second concerned taxpayer-funded political ads: Trump posted on Truth Social that he'd personally cover the cost, only for a White House spokesperson to clarify the next day that his statement wasn't about reimbursement. Kimmel aired both clips back to back as examples of the gap between the promise and the follow-through.

A man can say ‘promises made, promises kept’ all he wants, but gas pumps and bank statements don't read Truth Social. When your own spokesperson has to walk back your pledge to pay for something within twenty-four hours, that's not spin, that's just getting caught. The bit writes itself because the paper trail already wrote it first.
