A Florida lender, 2412 Laguna Holdings LLC, is suing the Atlanta Braves and outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. over a $3.2 million loan the company says went unpaid past its July 16 deadline. The complaint, filed in Miami-Dade court, alleges Acuña put up his MLB salary, endorsement income, and even his name and likeness as collateral, then let the Braves keep depositing his paychecks straight to him after the lender flagged the default.
With interest, the lender now wants $3.6 million, arguing Acuña — who signed the youngest $100-million-plus contract in baseball history back in 2019 and won NL MVP in 2023 — has more than enough to cover it. The Braves, also named as defendants for allegedly ignoring the lender's notice, have not commented.
Acuña is represented by Rimas Sports, the agency co-founded by Bad Bunny, which has tangled with MLB before over irregular loans to players.
