A man identified as Patrick Havas, 38, forced through a crowd toward Ohio Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton at the Canfield Fair on Sunday, knocking over several people before troopers stopped him, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The Mahoning County Sheriff's Office recovered two handguns and brass knuckles, though it said no weapons were drawn from their holsters; Havas was booked on disorderly conduct and two assault counts.

Republican Gov. Mike DeWine, GOP Sen. Jon Husted, and Acton's opponent Vivek Ramaswamy's campaign all issued statements condemning the incident. Acton's campaign said the candidate 'lunged' at was consistent with the chaos and vitriol she says she'll keep standing up to. The race, one of the most closely watched this cycle, has six weeks left before the November election.
