Axios reports that U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are shopping 'new ideas and proposals' to end Russia's war in Ukraine, presenting them to Ukrainian officials in the U.S. on October 9 after briefing Trump and a room of NATO, EU and allied officials a day earlier. The two plan to carry the same proposals to Moscow before the month is out.

No details of the new ideas have been disclosed. The trip follows a September visit to Moscow and Kyiv, and comes as Secretary of State Marco Rubio describes the war as a 'strategic stalemate' with no current prospects for peace, a characterization the Kremlin does not dispute and Zelensky has countered by accusing Washington of not pressuring Russia hard enough.

The full dispatch is available from the source below.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
Two presidential envoys have been shuttling between capitals with 'new ideas' for months now, and the ideas keep staying new in the sense that nobody can tell you what's actually in them. When your own secretary of state calls the war a stalemate in the same week the big breakthrough gets teased, you start to wonder if 'new' just means repackaged. A plan nobody will describe is not a plan, it's a travel itinerary with a press release attached.
