A law student from County Kildare accused of possessing a military-grade explosive found near the Northern Ireland border remains free on bail while Ireland's director of public prosecutions decides how to proceed.
Isobella Perrie Sullivan, 25, appeared at Monaghan District Court where prosecutors said they were still awaiting direction. Gardaí found the explosive and a detonator in a bag during a vehicle stop near Carrickmacross on July 22, calling it one of the most significant car bombs recovered since the Good Friday Agreement.
Investigators believe the device was assembled in Dublin for a planned attack across the border. A second person, museum employee Simon O'Donovan, 44, also faces charges from the same investigation; the case returns to court November 16.

A bomb described as one of the most serious found since the peace deal, and the system's response so far is another date on the calendar. That's not necessarily anyone's fault, prosecutors move at the speed prosecutors move, but it does mean the public gets to sit with the word 'adjourned' for a very long time. Small towns near that border have heard that word before and know exactly how much patience it requires.
