A Russian missile strike hit the village of Pechenihy in Ukraine's Kharkiv region on the morning of August 18, killing 10 people and injuring 17, according to regional administration head Oleh Syniehubov.

Ten private homes, a cafe, a post office, a store, and at least seven vehicles were damaged. President Volodymyr Zelensky said the strike hit a busy intersection lined with civilian buildings and vowed Ukraine would respond.
