EU promises more drone and missile funding for Ukraine

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced the EU will provide additional funding for Ukraine to buy drones and missiles, following a meeting with President Zelenskyy. She said Ukraine's funding needs will be a central topic at this week's European Council meeting.

Ukraine received €1.24 billion on October 7 under the EU's Ukraine Support Loan program, bringing total defense funding under that program to nearly €13 billion, according to Ukrainian officials. Von der Leyen also voiced support for a ceasefire protecting food and energy infrastructure, and said two more EU negotiation clusters would open.
