In Alaska's Senate race, Democrat Mary Peltola's ad accuses Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan of casting the 'deciding vote' to keep Epstein files hidden, referring to his September vote to table a Schumer amendment attached to the defense bill. Sullivan, like the rest of the Senate, later voted for a standalone bill that made the files public after Trump signed off on it in November.

The Peltola ad also ties Sullivan to two donors connected to Epstein's contacts or emails, though neither has been accused of any crime, and criticizes a small donation from a political operative later charged with sex trafficking — a donation Sullivan's campaign gave to charity after the arrest.

The Sullivan campaign fired back citing a conservative outlet's claim that Peltola took over $140,000 from Epstein 'associates,' though none of those named face charges either. FactCheck.org found both sides guilty of stretching tangential connections into campaign ammunition.

Nothing says 'serious policy debate' like two Senate campaigns competing to see who can draw the flimsier line to a dead sex offender. The files got released eventually, mostly because Congress ran out of ways to avoid it, which tells you everything about how much anyone's vote actually mattered.
