Trump envoys Witkoff, Kushner arrive in Moscow with proposal to end war

U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Moscow on Sept. 5 aboard a Boeing C-32A, landing at Vnukovo Airport where Russian negotiator Kirill Dmitriev met them. Trump said the pair carried a proposal to end the war; Zelenskyy confirmed the delegation would visit Kyiv the following day.

Reports indicate the U.S. pressed Ukraine to pause drone strikes on Moscow and Russian energy sites during the visit, and pressed Russia to halt missile strikes on Kyiv. Witkoff has visited Russia seven times since 2025 but, despite invitations, has never visited Ukraine until this trip.

An envoy who's been to Moscow seven times and Kyiv zero finally makes the trip, and that alone tells you which capital gets the easier flight path. Peace plans are like fence repairs, they only count once you've actually shown up with the tools. Landing is not the same as fixing anything, and everybody who's watched this show before knows the difference.
