Switzerland's Federal Council approved a new national security strategy on September 18, citing Russia's war on Ukraine and rising hybrid threats like cyberattacks, disinformation, espionage and sabotage. The plan rests on three priorities, ten objectives and 46 measures aimed at resilience, protection and defense, including hardening critical infrastructure and reducing dependencies.
The government considers a direct large-scale attack on Switzerland unlikely but flags exposure to drones and long-range missiles. Implementation is described as already underway, coordinated by the State Secretariat for Security Policy across federal, cantonal and municipal levels.
