Immersive experience brings Paris into tomb of King Tut

An immersive exhibit at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, running July 3 to Sept. 6, uses virtual reality and more than 1,000 replicas to recreate King Tutankhamun's tomb and its 1922 discovery by Howard Carter.

Egyptologists interviewed said the intact tomb reshaped understanding of the pharaoh, revealing he died as a teenager and was a legitimate member of the royal family rather than someone who married into it, based on skull studies and genetic testing.

Visitors, including one who expected a more traditional exhibition with real artifacts, described the show as well-documented and informative despite the absence of any actual objects from the tomb.
