Ahmed al Ahmed, hailed for tackling and disarming one of the Bondi Beach shooting gunmen in December, has had domestic violence, stalking and intimidation charges against him dropped by prosecutors. The charges stemmed from an alleged March incident involving his father; Ahmed had denied both charges.
Prosecutors withdrew the case after Ahmed agreed to an apprehended domestic violence order limiting contact with his father for 12 months, accepted without admissions. Ahmed, 44, called himself a "free man" outside court and said he hoped for peace.
Ahmed was shot several times during the December attack, which killed 15 people and was declared a terrorist incident targeting Sydney's Jewish community. A fundraiser afterward raised more than AU$2.5 million for him, and two of his brothers have separately been charged with threatening him and attempting to extort some of those donations.
