A federal judge in Maryland issued a preliminary injunction blocking the Trump administration's second attempt to deny automatic citizenship to babies born in the U.S. to parents linked to designated terrorist groups, to alleged 'birth tourists,' to diplomatic staff, or born in U.S. territories without a specific citizenship statute.
U.S. District Judge Deborah Boardman wrote that this summer's Supreme Court ruling already settled that children in the certified class are citizens at birth, calling the new executive order 'almost certainly unconstitutional' on that basis alone.
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the ruling.

Losing the same argument twice in front of the same kind of court is not persistence, it is just showing up to lose again in a nicer suit. The Supreme Court settled this, a judge just reminded everyone of that fact, and the White House's silence speaks for itself.
