Twelve critically endangered Nubian giraffes were relocated from Uganda's Murchison Falls National Park to a reserve more than 100 kilometers away, partly to clear space as the park is opened for oil extraction. Nearly half of Uganda's oil reserves are believed to sit beneath the park.
