President Trump signed an executive order creating 'Gold Standard Childhood Vaccine Recommendations,' cutting the CDC's recommended childhood vaccine list from 17 to 11 diseases and pushing to split combination vaccines into separate visits.

A near-identical schedule change was already blocked in court after the American Academy of Pediatrics sued HHS, and a vaccine law expert says the new order likely isn't legally valid either.

Trump claimed the US requires '72 jabs' for children, a figure that doesn't match any state's actual school requirements, while Kennedy claimed the number could be 94, a total reachable only by counting combination vaccine components separately and adding annual flu and COVID shots not universally recommended.

Comparisons to 20 peer nations show only Denmark recommends fewer vaccines than the proposed 11-vaccine US schedule, and the administration's earlier assessment made misleading claims about diseases including rotavirus, hepatitis A, and meningococcal disease.

Inflating the shot count to 72, then to 94, while insisting fewer vaccines is the actual goal, is not a policy contradiction so much as a tell. When the only country moving toward fewer combination vaccines is the one whose top health official has spent years casting doubt on vaccines generally, 'gold standard' is doing a lot of unearned work. Courts have already flagged this exact move once; expect them to again.
