War unlikely to end this winter — Budanov

Kyrylo Budanov, head of Ukraine's Presidential Office, said Russia currently has no intention of ending its war and that a ceasefire is unlikely before winter's end, speaking to Ukrainian broadcasters on August 28.

He said forthcoming U.S.–Ukraine–Russia negotiations will likely address technical and preparatory matters rather than a substantive resolution, and confirmed fighting will continue through the winter.

The Financial Times reported in July that Putin was unlikely to pursue substantive peace talks before February 2027, a timeline Budanov's comments do not contradict.
