El-Sayed says Hasan Piker does not speak for his campaign amid comments about Jewish candidate

Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed said streamer Hasan Piker, a onetime campaign surrogate, does not speak for him after Piker linked criticism of Jewish support for Israel to Jewish state Sen. Jeremy Moss. Republican opponent Mike Rogers has repeatedly tied El-Sayed to Piker, at one point calling him El-Sayed's 'running mate.'

El-Sayed's statement did not directly label Piker's comments antisemitic but called antisemitism a 'scourge' and pledged commitment to Jewish safety. Rep. Hillary Scholten, who has not endorsed El-Sayed, separately called Piker's remarks 'unacceptable,' while Rogers faces his own scrutiny over ties to a Dearborn rally organizer accused of anti-Muslim rhetoric.

Both campaigns seem eager to make this race about a Twitch streamer and a pastor rather than gas prices, which is usually a sign that gas prices are the argument nobody wants to have. Guilt by surrogate association cuts in every direction if you let it.
