A one-and-a-half-year-old girl named Lera, born prematurely at 27 weeks to Alexandra Strilets, has died, according to Novaya Gazeta. Strilets was convicted of treason by a Sevastopol court in August 2025 and sentenced, along with her mother Viktoria, to 12 years in prison; both were designated political prisoners by the rights group Memorial.

Lera had been discharged home for palliative care the day before her death; her father had prepared a room for her. The court had declined to postpone the sentence despite Strilets having two young children.
