Malicious actors copy NV website design to spread fake news – editorial team

NV's editorial team says it has no connection to nvukraine.com, a domain that copied its website design and name to publish a fabricated Sept. 23 report claiming searches of a former defense procurement official. The false story appeared in multiple language versions, including English and Ukrainian.

Media-DK Publishing House, which owns NV, says it is taking steps to stop the unauthorized use of its name and materials and the spread of false information attributed to it.

Somebody built a whole fake newsroom just to borrow a real one's good name, which tells you the good name was worth stealing. The forger never bothers copying the outlet nobody trusts. Least NV can do now is send out the correction faster than the lie traveled, though that race is rarely close.
