Moscow's mayor Sergey Sobyanin said the city endured its largest Ukrainian drone attack yet, with more than 1,600 drones reportedly repelled since the previous day and 450 shot down approaching the capital; officials reported two deaths.

The attack coincided with the third and final day of Russia's parliamentary elections, in which the Moscow region is also voting for its regional legislature. Sobyanin characterized the strike as an attempt to disrupt voting and declared it had failed.

Moscow's city government website described the day of voting amid the barrage as having ‘begun as normal.’

Calling the heaviest drone attack a city has ever seen a normal Tuesday takes a special kind of confidence. It's the sort of thing you say when the vote was never going to look different no matter how many drones showed up. A government that controls the count doesn't need the sky to be quiet, it just needs the paperwork to say so.
