Kimi Antonelli won the Italian Grand Prix at Monza after starting 19th on the grid, becoming the first Italian to win there in 60 years, a result that all but locks up his first F1 title early in the season. The victory came aided by an early red flag after Charles Leclerc crashed into the barriers at Parabolica, capping a disastrous day for Ferrari, and a mid-race virtual safety car triggered by Lance Stroll's retirement.

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff said he expected either Antonelli or teammate George Russell to win, describing a premonition he'd shared with Antonelli's father, and comparing the 20-year-old to someone 'walking on water' at his home circuit.
