Jared Kushner, speaking at the YES 2026 conference in Kyiv, said the U.S. is working to arrange trilateral talks between Ukraine, Russia and Washington, while acknowledging Kyiv and Moscow still have no shared vision of what a settlement would look like. He named territorial disputes as the most persistent obstacle, dependent on an unpredictable battlefield.

Kushner said recent U.S. talks with Russian officials produced ideas that could inform a future trilateral meeting, and argued direct three-way negotiations would beat continued shuttle diplomacy. He said Putin has laid out Moscow's conditions, which Ukraine rejects, leaving mediators to search for a 'creative solution.'

The envoy expressed hope Washington could announce further steps in coming weeks. Zelenskyy has said he's open to meeting Putin at the G20 in Miami, while Lavrov called Moscow's invitation to meet in Russia a gesture of goodwill even as Russia says it won't halt operations during any negotiations.
