President Trump told a Clarksville, Tennessee rally crowd that he would keep calling Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed 'Mohammed' and labeled him a 'radical jihadist,' saying, 'I'm the president. I can call him whatever the hell I want.'

Kid Rock, who spoke before Trump, echoed the theme, and Sen. John Kennedy separately suggested El-Sayed 'sleeps in a Bin Laden jersey,' a claim unsupported by anything El-Sayed has said.

El-Sayed responded on social media, and commentators noted he has never expressed support for Osama bin Laden and is simply Muslim.

A grown man insisting he can call his neighbor whatever he wants is usually the one the whole street has quit inviting over. The candidate's name is Abdul El-Sayed, and it costs nothing to say it right. Being Muslim isn't a confession, and a Bin Laden jersey nobody has ever seen is just a senator making things up out loud.
