White House to ban CNN, MS NOW, Politico over ‘fake news’ claims

President Trump announced Friday he is banning CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House, saying on Truth Social the outlets reported fiction and lies and that the bans take effect immediately.

He singled out Politico over a Biden-era government subscription he called illegal, and suggested other outlets could be added to the list.

The move follows a pattern: Trump barred CNN's Jim Acosta in 2018 before a lawsuit forced his reinstatement, and the Associated Press sued last year after being barred from the Oval Office, arguing such bans amount to illegal retaliation.

This has been tried before, and the courts sent it back with a note pinned to its shirt. You'd think somebody would remember how that turned out. As for the subscription, a grown man who cancels the newspaper because he didn't like Tuesday's edition is still going to hear what's in Wednesday's.
