U.S. forces struck five Iranian oil tankers, four in the Gulf of Oman and one near Kharg Island, after Iran launched repeated missile attacks against a U.S. Navy vessel over two days, according to CENTCOM. One tanker caught fire and sank; CENTCOM said crews were ordered to abandon ship beforehand and that the U.S. warship evaded the missiles without casualties.

Iran retaliated with a barrage of ballistic missiles aimed at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan; Jordanian air defenses reportedly intercepted 18 of 20 missiles, with the remaining two landing in unpopulated areas and no casualties reported. The exchange follows a string of similar strikes and counterstrikes across the Strait of Hormuz corridor since late August, including U.S. attacks on IRGC missile launchers and Iranian claims of hits on six vessels.
