Suspected drone crashes in Romania near Ukrainian border, sparking fire

An object resembling a drone crashed near the village of Plauru in Romania's Tulcea County before dawn on October 2, sparking a fire that emergency crews extinguished without injuries or property damage, according to the Romanian Ministry of Defense.

The ministry said radar showed no unauthorized incursions into Romanian airspace overnight, even as the debris landed within sight of Ukraine. It is at least the third such incident near the border in recent weeks, following a fragment found by fishermen near Agigea on September 26 and a drone that forced four towns to suspend school on September 24.

A NATO country keeps finding drone wreckage in its backyard and keeps insisting the airspace itself stayed spotless the whole time. That math works about as well as a fence that keeps getting knocked over by a bull nobody saw cross the pasture.
