Ukrainian presidential adviser Serhii Beskrestnov, known as Flash, posted video on Oct. 5 showing mesh modems he says Russia could use to build signal relays for Shahed drone strikes inside Ukraine. He displayed two versions, one with several watts of output and another with several dozen, and said their small size makes them easy to conceal in a house, car, or suitcase.

Beskrestnov said the devices need only an internet connection and a power source to function as relays, and had earlier suggested on Oct. 3 that Russia may already be using such mesh networks in Kyiv to adjust Shahed strikes in real time. He previously described the broader mesh system as a dynamic network of modems acting as both transmitters and relays, rerouting signals automatically if any link is lost.
