Ex-cop testifies Keffe D admitted to involvement in Tupac Shakur murder

A former LAPD detective testified that Duane 'Keffe D' Davis, during a 2008 off-the-record proffer session about the unsolved murder of Notorious B.I.G., blurted 'we did the other one' when denying involvement in that case — an apparent reference to Tupac Shakur's 1996 murder in Las Vegas. Daryn Dupree told the jury he understood 'the other one' to mean Shakur, the only other unsolved rap murder he could think of.

Davis is on trial for allegedly supplying the gun used to kill Shakur amid a gang feud between the South Side Compton Crips and Mob Piru, tied to Death Row Records and Suge Knight. Prosecutors say Davis handed the weapon to Deandrae Smith, who was too frightened to shoot, at which point Davis's nephew Orlando Anderson grabbed it and fired.

Davis, now 63, has pleaded not guilty and says his 2019 memoir detailing the killing was fictional; his attorney says Davis was known to 'bullshit.' A former FBI agent also testified Davis denied involvement in both murders during separate interviews, at one point claiming people associated with Sean Combs killed Shakur. The trial continues, with Knight and Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo among the possible witnesses.
