Kyiv stockpiles food, water for winter power outages

Kyiv is building reserves of food and drinking water to prepare for extended power outages, according to Oleh Kuyavskyi of the Kyiv City State Administration. Priority will go to low-income residents, with supplies meant for 'points of invincibility,' emergency responders, and disaster relief.

Officials say the city can organize hot meals for 25,000 people with help from charitable groups, and plans to buy 20,000 more emergency food kits. As of mid-August, roughly half the planned winter preparation work had been completed, and Ukraine's agriculture minister said Russian strikes have destroyed about 90% of retail warehouse capacity.
