Signing an executive order on childhood vaccines, Trump claimed the combined MMR shot could be 'quite lethal' together but safe apart, and said splitting it into three shots could save 'hundreds of thousands of lives, millions of lives.'

No country in the world administers the three MMR components separately as part of routine childhood immunization; the vaccine has been used for more than 40 years with over 800 million Merck doses given in 75-plus countries.

No US manufacturer even makes the individual measles, mumps or rubella shots anymore, Merck having stopped production in 2008, and Merck says there is no published evidence that separating the shots offers any benefit.

Medical groups including the American Academy of Pediatrics and American College of Physicians said the order isn't based on new science and could raise costs and missed-appointment risks for families.

Demanding a vaccine be split into three shots that no manufacturer produces and no country administers is not a policy proposal, it's a wish list dressed up as an executive order. The autism claim has been tested for thirty years and has failed every time, which apparently qualifies it for another signing ceremony. Families will be the ones scheduling the extra pediatrician visits this fantasy requires.
