‘Bangladesh, 40 nations helping China evade tariffs’

A White House report accuses more than 40 countries, including Bangladesh, the EU, Mexico, Canada, India, Japan and South Korea, of enabling a 'shadow logistics network' that relabels Chinese goods to dodge US tariffs, allegedly costing the Treasury tens of billions annually. BGMEA president Mahmud Hasan Khan disputed the claim, noting 96% of Bangladeshi goods go to the US under the free-on-board method, where local exporters ship from factories to port while US importers bear duties and risk, making third-country tax evasion routes implausible for them. BKMEA president Mohammad Hatem acknowledged Bangladeshi exporters do use Chinese fabrics and accessories, but said these are imported through legal, government-monitored channels.
