Gov. Ron DeSantis signed an executive order declaring a state of emergency for 25 Florida counties ahead of Tropical Depression 9, which is tracking toward northwest Florida. The order lets the state Division of Emergency Management pre-stage resources including fuel, generators, flood barriers, water, tarps, sandbags and meals in Leon and Santa Rosa counties.
DeSantis warned that impacts could extend beyond the landfall point, with heavy rain, strong winds, coastal flooding and isolated tornadoes possible, compounded by already-saturated soils from recent rainfall. He urged residents to check disaster plans and stock hurricane supplies via the state's FloridaDisaster.org site.
