Danish intelligence uncovers Russian sabotage plans against defense companies

Denmark's Security and Intelligence Service says it has uncovered Russian plans and preparations for sabotage, likely arson, against Danish defense companies, according to counterintelligence chief Emil Graesholm speaking to Berlingske. He said the goal is to halt specific weapons deliveries to Ukraine and to intimidate Denmark into backing off its support and its own military buildup.

Graesholm said the agency does not normally disclose this kind of intelligence but judged the threat concrete enough to warrant a public warning, urging defense firms to tighten security. He also cautioned that ordinary Danes could unwittingly work for Moscow simply by responding to requests to photograph or film certain facilities.

The disclosure follows a string of related incidents in Germany, including a drone with explosives found near a Ukrainian cargo plane at Leipzig Airport, Berlin's formal accusation of Russia over that plot, and the closure of Germany's last regional Russian consulate. Denmark has sent Ukraine more than 10 billion euros in military aid since 2022, including a 30th aid package worth about 590 million euros announced in June 2026.
