A HuffPost shopping writer recounts converting to nightlights after a roommate installed one in a shared bathroom, describing the realization that overhead lights at 2 a.m. are unpleasant as a personal breakthrough. The recommended product is a light-sensing GE LED nightlight that rotates 360 degrees and emits 40 lumens, sold in a two-pack for $8 on Amazon.

The piece frames the purchase as a mission to convert others, treating a decades-old household fixture as a discovery worth sharing.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
Somebody's roommate solved a problem with an eight-dollar plug-in gadget and a whole article got built around the astonishment of it working. That's not investigative journalism, that's just what happens when the rent for a light bulb is a paragraph of wonder. Still, if the piece gets one more person to stop blinding themselves at midnight, the bulb did more good than most op-eds this week.
