BTS member V, whose real name is Kim Tae-hyung, revealed during a livestream that he has been receiving treatment for hearing loss in his right ear for about two and a half years, saying the hearing in that ear is around 30% compared to his left. He said the issue worsened during his mandatory military service, which he completed between 2023 and June 2025, and that he initially dismissed it as a matter of willpower before starting medication and regular hospital visits.
The revelation comes midway through BTS's Arirang World Tour, the group's first since all seven members reunited following their military service hiatus. Bandmate Jungkook also discussed a shin injury on the same livestream, saying he is close to developing a stress fracture and will need to manage it carefully to keep performing through upcoming stops including Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, Bangkok, Sydney and Hong Kong.
