Air Tanzania announced it would resume flights between Dar es Salaam and Moscow on September 7, reversing a suspension it had declared just hours earlier for September 4, according to Reuters. The airline attributed the reversal to a 'routine risk assessment of the operating environment' but did not say what, if anything, had actually changed.

The original suspension had cited safety concerns and offered refunds or free rebooking, coming days after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Ukrainian drone activity was making Russian airspace increasingly dangerous for civilian aviation. Ukraine has since asked the International Civil Aviation Organization to press member states to halt flights through Russian airspace, a request Russia's Transport Ministry has rejected.

Moscow airports have faced repeated disruptions from Ukrainian drone attacks in recent days, per Flightradar24 data cited by Reuters, though Air Tanzania has not linked either of its decisions to that pattern.

A safety call that gets un-made in less time than it takes to unpack a suitcase isn't a risk assessment, it's a coin flip with extra paperwork. Nobody's saying what changed because probably nothing did except the phone ringing from somebody unhappy about the first decision. Passengers just get to hope the airline's third opinion sticks longer than its second one did.
