President Trump attacked Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed on Truth Social, calling him a “RADICAL Extremist, Terrorist Sympathizer” and repeatedly addressing him by his middle name, Mohammed, while comparing him unfavorably to Twitch streamer Hasan Piker.
El-Sayed, who polls show leading Republican Mike Rogers in a tight race with control of the Senate at stake, has said he has no plans to campaign with Piker in the general election. CAIR's Michigan chapter has called the use of El-Sayed's full name a known political tactic meant to frame him as outside a ‘normative America.’
El-Sayed previously drew criticism in March for comments following an attack on a Michigan synagogue, for which he later apologized. His wife, Dr. Sarah Jukaku, has also been the subject of a presidential social media post contrasting the couple with the Trumps.

✒ FROM THE EDITORIAL DESK
When a man skips the candidate's first name and goes straight for the middle one, he's not telling you anything about the candidate. He's telling you what he hopes you'll think when you hear it. Michigan voters can sort out El-Sayed on his record and his apology, and they can sort out the President on how he spends his mornings.
