Bangladesh's measles outbreak has killed at least 902 people this year after eight more deaths were reported in a single 24-hour period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services. Confirmed deaths stand at 99 with 803 additional suspected deaths, alongside a total of 17,800 confirmed cases and 141,776 suspected cases.

A report from the Global Centre for Democratic Governance attributes the outbreak to disrupted vaccine supply and immunization programs in 2024-2025 under the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus, including a switch away from UNICEF's established procurement system that led to shortages despite repeated warnings. Measles vaccination coverage reportedly fell to 56.2 percent in 2025, the lowest level recorded since 2017.
