A 22-year-old conscript from Dmitrov named Alexander Korolkov was drafted after taking academic leave from vocational college, and was diagnosed months later with a personality disorder before attempting suicide at a training center in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
His mother says military officials assured her he would not be deployed after treatment at a psychoneurological clinic, yet five days after his discharge he signed a contract for service in Ukraine, which he told her he was pressured into. The unit would not show her the document, and she suspects it was fabricated.
In April 2025 his unit sent him on an assault operation in occupied Ukrainian territory, where he went missing. In summer 2026 the unit petitioned a court to declare him dead, and his mother received the death certificate.
